Sharing cards
The Sharing setting on the Sharing tab of a member card or gift card design controls whether a card may be passed on to other people:
- Several people, several devices – the card may be shared (the default).
- One person, all their devices – only the person who saved the card may use it, on all of their own devices.
- One person, one device – the card is tied to one person and one device.
Google Wallet enforces all three levels. Apple Wallet only knows “sharing allowed” or “prohibited”: both restricted levels prohibit sharing there, and “One person, one device” behaves like “One person, all their devices” on iOS because iCloud syncs the card to the holder’s own devices. The Sharing prohibited (Apple Wallet) field shows what applies to Apple.
Once cards from a design have been saved in Google Wallet, Google no longer allows a stricter setting. A stricter choice is then reset on save and only applies to a new design – the form warns you when this is the case.
